What to Wear to Thanksgiving Dinner
Casual
If your Thanksgiving this year is on the casual side, start with a pair of mom jeans! Not only are mom jeans adorable, but they are so comfy and roomy which is great for after you’ve eaten your body weight in mashed potatoes.
You can pair the mom jeans with a neutral sweater like white or beige. This is a good base to add a fun, fall-colored jacket overtop the sweater without it looking too tacky or overwhelming.
Next, add a “shacket” on top of your sweater. A shacket is a shirt jacket which is pretty much just a thicker flannel. Shackets have been extremely trendy lately and for good reason. They are extremely comfortable and add the perfect amount of spice to your casual Thanksgiving dinner outfit.
Pair this outfit with a pair of white or beige booties to complement the color of your sweater!
Lastly, to top off your outfit, add some dainty jewelry. A simple necklace on top of the sweater will add the sparkle your sweater may be lacking without going overboard. Laying rings on both hands would also be the perfect complement to your shacket!
Formal
Don’t worry, we also have you covered if you are going for a more formal look this Thanksgiving. Start with a white sweater (preferably one with fun sleeves or a knitted pattern). You could even button up a cardigan to make it a sweater!
Next, pair the sweater with a high waister, mid-length skirt. Have fun with the color and pattern of the skirt, make it fit your own unique style! If you want to embrace the fall color scheme, find a skirt with oranges, yellows, browns, or reds. The skirt should be the focal point for your outfit so have fun with it!
Now that you have the shirt and skirt, what next? Pair these two with a pair of black tights. Not only will these keep you warm, but it makes your outfit look classy.
For shoes, black boots are the way to go. You can decide whether you want to wear long boots or booties and even if you wanted to wear brown boots that would look adorable as well! If this event is very formal, it may be better to wear closed-toed heels instead.
Lastly, complete this outfit with a necklace that matches the skirt you chose. This will tie the whole outfit together!
