Candle Keepsakes are trending
The tradition of giving out favors to guests at special events is many hundreds of years old. The practice was originated by the rich who gave small porcelain or crystal boxes with confectionary gifts to guests at their weddings as a symbol of wealth and royalty. Eventually, the custom changed to sugared or Jordan almonds which symbolized both the bitter and sweet nature of marriage. Over time, it became customary to provide gifts at all manner of events from baby and bridal showers to even small birthday parties, and not just for the wealthy any longer. Nowadays, you can all but expect there to be favors at just about every wedding and special event that you go to. But we like to get creative with what we give our guests. Wouldn’t you like to give something that will make you stand out in their memory?
That’s why so many people are turning to candles as great favor ideas to give to guests. The best thing about candles is that almost everyone finds them useful. Isn’t it nice to set the mood with some candlelight at the dinner table? Don’t you love to freshen up the air in your house with some pleasant scents? How about lighting a candle in the bathroom, flipping the lights off, and settling down to a relaxing bath? Not to mention the utility of having an assortment of candles on hand should you ever lose power and need some guiding light in the dark. People love candles for all sorts of different reasons but it’s undeniable that they are almost universally appreciated.
That element of scent in a candle though is quite a big selling point for many people. Our sense of smell ties in so uniquely to our memories that on occasion, a whiff of a long forgotten scent can immediately transport us in our mind to a single moment in the past. Imagine, for instance, that you chose a unique and perfect scent for your wedding or baby shower and burn candles of that scent throughout the whole event. At the end of the day, you send your guests home with a small candle in that same fragrance and when they light it, they remember all of the magic of that special day. That is what candles can do for you.
You can also get candles highly customized for you and your event. You can choose the vessel they come in, brand the label with your own personal design, colors, and name, and with some candlemakers, you can even customize your scent. Sending your friends and family home with a lavender candle might not feel that impressive but sending them home with a candle that blends lavender, sage, and teakwood in a fragrance that you have personally named will make quite an impression.
It’s also true that candles make great gifts because purchasing a high-quality candle can sometimes be quite expensive. A good candlemaker will use top notch ingredients for everything from the wax, to the wick, to the fragrance oils themselves and all of that stuff doesn’t necessarily come cheap. When you purchase candles for an event though, you can get them at wholesale prices – usually only a fraction of the cost that the candles would run you when sold one at a time. You won’t be spending exorbitant amounts of money on nice gifts, but your guests will be impressed to be walking away with a gift they will think you shelled out some serious dough for.
All in all, you simply can’t go wrong with candle keepsakes as gifts for your guests. You’ll surely stick out in their mind as having provided them with something useful, memorable, and unique. And yes, after a while their candle will be all burned out and gone but long after the wax has disappeared, that little candle vessel can still be a useful or decorative touch around their home. Candles are certainly the way to go.
