Do Scents have to be seasonal?

Scents can be inherently seasonal and certain scent notes can lean more fall/winter or spring/summer. But, do they always have to be seasonal?

Make a Blend

If you have candles that are from seasons past, a great way to have them feel current to whatever season you’re in is to mix them with seasonal scents you currently have on hand. If you’re in the spring/summer mood and recently bought floral or coconut scents, mix them with a muskier, cologne-type scent for a fresh + darker concoction! If you want to make a specific scent and don’t have what you need for it, you can always book something with your local candle-pouring business!

Comfort Scents

Many scents that are meant for fall/winter are more comforting, cozy, and warm scents. If you love the cozy fall vibes or if fall is your favorite season, burn one of these on a rainy day or whenever you want to make your heart happy and your mind more relaxed and cozy. Also, if you gravitate towards these types of scents, who’s to say you can’t burn them all year round?

Bakery Scents

Bakery scents are loved by many and they are prominent during the colder months. These scents offer comforting notes of vanilla and cinnamon and are usually paired with a pastry of some sort (or pumpkin) during the fall. But, bakery scents don’t always have to be seasonal– there are ways to encapsulate bakery scents in the spring and summer that are more fresh and sweet than comforting and warm. Strawberry cake scents or using fresh fruit to give the essence of a pastry-like candle is a great way to play up themes from these seasons and make them relevant! Adding your fall/winter candles to your sweet fruit candles and burning them together is a great way to tie in our “make your own personal blend” point, too!

Scents are personal, and you should be able to burn whatever you please without judgment! If you want your pumpkin spice candle burning on a 90-degree day in the dead of July, do it! If you want to burn a fresh floral in the middle of winter, who’s stopping you? The world is your oyster, especially in terms of scents, and mixing your candle at a local candle pouring place is the best of both worlds!
