Get the Most Bang For Your Buck with Home Renovations

Whether you’re thinking about selling your house or you just want to be a little more comfortable in your home, you might be considering making some upgrades. This can be a daunting idea when you think of how much money you could funnel into your home with no guarantee of a return on your investment. The good news is that remodels and renovations don’t always have to break the bank. You can update and refresh your home rather inexpensively if you know where and how to spend your money the right way. Check out these projects that don’t cost much but will leave your space feeling rejuvenated.

Kitchen updates

You might be dreaming of the total kitchen overhaul to something gorgeous right out of your dreams but you can make some little changes that will make a big difference. Start with the cabinets. You could replace them if they’re really terrible, or you could simply paint them. Maybe consider painting the inside of your kitchen cabinets and removing the old and out of fashion cabinet doors in favor of an open look. Or, a little more drastic, remove the cabinets and simply install open shelving. This modern look is very popular right now, just make sure you’re willing to keep your things organized! Additionally, you could consider replacing your countertop with one of the more inexpensive granite options available. You could get a nice new granite counter for less than a grand if you do some careful shopping. Updating your appliances is another good option for a kitchen refresh, which you can make affordable by searching out discounted appliances at your local scratch and dent.

Bathroom updates

We might not spend a lot of time just hanging out in the bathroom (unless you’re a parent trying to hide from the kids for few minutes) but we do use our bathrooms quite a bit. So it only makes sense that bathroom upgrades are at the top of many people’s lists. Little updates like a fresh coat of paint, new faucets and hardware, upgrading the lighting fixture, and purchasing some new bath linens could make all the difference. If you’re feeling ambitious, replacing a plastic tub surround with fresh tile or removing old, outdated tile for something a little more modern is a fix that will cost you less than $1000 and leave you feeling like your bathroom is all new.

Flooring Updates

Old, worn-out, ugly carpets can make your whole home feel tired and dirty. Tear that carpet out and install some nice new floors underneath. If you’re very lucky, you might have hardwood floors in good condition beneath old carpet. Maybe the hardwood needs a good refinishing but even that will liven up the space in a new and exciting way. If there’s nothing to see under the carpet, you can go all-out and install some fresh hardwood yourself, but that might end up costing you a pretty penny. Instead, shell out a little less for some high-quality vinyl flooring that will look nice without breaking the bank.

Paint updates

Never discount the effect a fresh coat of paint can make. Your space might feel dark and dreary but a light paint color could just flip the vibe on it’s head. Or, if you’re feeling bored looking at sterile white walls all day, try making one way into an accent wall. There are tons of different DIY ideas on the internet to get creative with your colors. Let out your creativity and express yourself with your décor!

Even the littlest changes can make a big difference when it comes to refreshing your space. And all of these updates would be beneficial if you’re thinking about putting your home on the market (except maybe a vibrant or eccentric accent wall). If you think it’s time for a change, treat yourself and spice things up a bit. It might be just what you were needing.
