Summer Paint Inspiration for your Home
Bright sunny days change the way we see the world – quite literally.
The extra light helps bring colors alive and pop with vibrancy – so it is a great time to refresh your home with some shades that are going to be very popular this summer.
A coat of paint is a relatively quick and cheap way to completely change the look and feel of a room – so make the most of the summertime and get creative.
Hot and hazy days lend themselves to a cool blue in your home to counter that outside heat and bring in a touch of the lake or the sea. Aqua blue or baby blue both set a room in a calm and cool mood.
If you do not want to repaint whole walls, think about using the blue as an accent instead of the base color – old furniture, cabinets, or the wood trims around windows and the floor may all be ideal candidates for a refresh. Pair it up with another color – perhaps a sunny yellow – rather than traditional white to make your room really stand out.
But paint can be for so much more than just the walls – the floor beneath our feet is increasingly coming back into vogue as a canvas for painted creativity.
With a few rolls of painter’s tape and some contrasting colors, you can have a fun time creating a cooling effect on a concrete base and an easy-to-clean pattern with stripes, a chessboard effect, circles – you name it, you can paint it.
And if you do not like it, well it is easy to just have another go – no harm, no foul.
After the blues, summer 2022 is about fun with color. Earthy and spicy colors are adding richness to a room, with yellows and reds in natural world shades creating a feeling of solidity and the outdoors after two years of being kept cooped up inside.
Experimentation is highly encouraged -after all, if it does not work out, it is a simple task to paint over it and start again.
If you are unsure about whole walls in one particular color or shade, break things up by adding a picture rail and changing colors above and below the line – this will also make your room look larger since the colors above the rail will draw the eyes towards the ceiling. If your home already boasts architectural details like battens, dado rails, shiplap, and the like, make the most of it by going two-tone with a bright contrasting visual experience.
As we have either returned to our workplaces out of the home or made homeworking a feature of our lives, it is important to reclaim our spaces from work to relaxation. If the temporary office has been finally dismantled, or even if you have adapted and created a proper home workspace, no one should be working from the kitchen table anymore.
Bring the point to the fore that your space is for your life, not your work, and create calm, comfort, and tranquility with nature-inspired shades of greens and pinks.
Paint is not just about color -texture plays an important part. For a different feel consider a different paint finish – satins, mattes, chalk, lime wash, and milk all offer the same colors with a very different finishing effect. Experiment and enjoy.
